Nettie Frink

November 29, 1934 — May 26, 2021

Nettie Lee Frink, age 86 of Chadbourn and formerly of Brooklyn, New York, went to be with her Lord on Wednesday, May 26, 2021, at New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington, North Carolina, surrounded by her loving family.

Nettie was born on November 29, 1934, to the late William Howard and Rena Smith.  She was also preceded in death by her husband Rudolph Mack “Blusie” Frink; son Howard Smith; granddaughter Keisha Smith; and stepdaughter Dorothy Jacobs.

A walk-through viewing will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, May 28, 2021, at D&A Funeral Services Chapel, 212 South Wilkes Street, Chadbourn.

Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, May 29, 2021, at Belvue Cemetery, 1055 Clarendon-Chadbourn Road, Chadbourn with Pastor Virgil Reaves officiating.

Nettie very much enjoyed taking care of people, so, it should come as no surprise that she enjoyed a long career in the healthcare industry, where she worked, and eventually retired from Creedmor Psychiatric Center in New York. Nettie also nurtured and cared for those she loved through cooking for them. She enjoyed being creative with her meals and if she ever made you any of her signature dishes like potato salad, banana pudding, and any of her fancy mixed green salads, you knew how gifted she was in that area. Nettie also found peace and solace in doing word puzzles, and you could always be assured that a puzzle book was never far away from her. Nettie was the mother to her son Howard Smith, and a marriage to the love of her life, Rudolph Mack “Blusie” Frink, created a beautiful, blended family that consisted of her son, and his three daughters. Nettie and “Blusie” relocated from Brooklyn to Chadbourn in 1995; and while Chadbourn was his hometown, Nettie took to southern living and begin making a life for herself. She became a member of the First Missionary Baptist Church in Chadbourn, where she served on the Usher Board. She attended regularly, as her health permitted.

She leaves to cherish her memory, daughter-in-law Emelda Smith; stepdaughters Margaret Frink-Britt and Sabrina Frink; granddaughter Tara Brown; grandson Kevin Smith; great-grandchildren Terrence Smith, Khyrie Rosado, Vanessa Joyner, Mickey Smith, Destiny Smith, Lavon Smith, and Shania Smith.  A host of cousins, friends, and extended families including the Reaves, Lesane and LeGrand.

D&A Funeral Services, Inc. of Chadbourn is serving the Frink and extended families.
