Cynthia Yvonne Davis Nealy peacefully departed this life on Sunday, March 17, 2024, at Duke University Medical Center in Durham, North Carolina. She was surrounded by her daughters and grandchildren following a courageous battle with cancer. Cynthia was 71 years old.
Bonnie as she was affectionately known, was born on April 8, 1952, Cynthia was the cherished daughter of the late William L. Davis II and Sarah Lawrence Davis. Growing up in a loving family, Cynthia shared a special bond with her parents and her sister, Betty Davis Williams, who preceded her in death. Throughout her life, Cynthia's family provided her with unwavering love and support, shaping her into the kind-hearted woman she became.
She was a devoted mother to her two daughters, Yvonne "Peaches" Nealy-Hill (Lynwood) and Avala "Pepper" Nealy. Cynthia found joy and fulfillment in nurturing her daughters, guiding them through life's challenges, and celebrating their successes. Her love and dedication were evident in every aspect of her role as a mother.
A Visitation will be held on Friday, March 22, 2024, from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm in the Chapel of D&A Funeral Services 212 South Wilkes Street, Chadbourn.
A Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, March 23, 2024, at the First Missionary Baptist Church, located at 505 South Wilkes Street, Chadbourn. Elder LaDontae' R Wooten will render services as the Eulogist, with Rev. Dr. C. Lynn Brinkley officiating.
In addition to her daughters, Cynthia is survived by her two brothers, William L. Davis III (Margaret) and Marion Davis, who were sources of strength and support throughout her life. She was also blessed with grandchildren who brought immense joy and happiness into her life: Dez'Sjunique Holley (Tyler), Prashant Hill, Kurstan Nealy-Campbell, and Princeton Hill. Cynthia cherished each moment spent with her grandchildren, creating lasting memories filled with love and laughter. The highlight of her retirement was spending time with Carter, Art, True, and Zyaire. She held each of them dear, nurturing them with a boundless love that radiated from the depths of her heart and extended to the farthest corners of the universe.
